Rob Sunstrum - Founder & CEO at Smart Golf
Special guest
Rob Sunstrum is the founder and CEO of SMART Golf Software, a Canadian company revolutionizing tournament and league scoring for golf courses and simulators. A former logistics sales professional at DHL and co-founder of software firm Digital Freight Group, Rob pivoted to golf tech after being laid off during the pandemic. He spotted a major opportunity when a dominant Canadian scoring platform was sold to an American company, leaving courses with a subpar alternative.
Rob leveraged his background in sales and his experience as a golfer and former men's league captain at Highland Golf & Country Club to bridge the gap between player needs and software development. Starting with mockups and direct feedback from golf pros in London, Ontario, he and his partners built a user-friendly, web-based platform that launched with over 100 leagues and has since grown to serve hundreds of courses across Canada and the U.S. Beyond green-grass courses, Rob has expanded SMART Golf's reach through partnerships with the NGCOA Canada, Golf Canada, OFSAA high school athletics, and PARAGOLF CANADA, supporting adaptive and junior golf programs through the company's CANADA Proud Initiative.
