Todd Bishop - Co-Founder of Dormie Workshop

Special guest

Todd Bishop is the co-founder of Dormie Workshop, the Halifax-based company he launched with his brother Jeff a decade ago that has become synonymous with handcrafted, custom leather golf head covers. Raised on the game by a golf-obsessed father and heir to a three-generation line of left-handed swingers, Todd grew up as a certified PGA professional who, together with Jeff, ran the Bishop Brothers Golf School before cutting his entrepreneurial teeth with a fused-glass golf ball marker venture called Lined Up Golf.

Their pivot to leather came when Jeff spotted a gap in the U.S. market for supple, well-made covers that outperformed the bulky OEM knit versions, and the brothers - joined by their youngest brother Alex, a graphic designer and graffiti artist - decided during a Ryder Cup broadcast to go all-in.

What began as a scrappy, bootstrapped operation - prototypes sewn by a local artisan in her Dartmouth basement apartment, laser etching outsourced across Halifax, and the founders learning leatherwork on the fly - has grown into a brand celebrated for pushing the boundaries of design. Dormie Workshop's early break came from NHL legend Chris Pronger, whose request for Olympic-themed covers forced the team to pioneer mixed-medium techniques combining laser etching, embroidery, and appliqué.

That spirit of innovation produced the legendary one-of-a-kind Samurai head cover and led to licensing partnerships with powerhouse programs like Ohio State and UConn, as well as work with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.

Now marking its 10th anniversary, Dormie Workshop is expanding beyond its Halifax headquarters with a new production facility and incubator space in Los Angeles, strategically located near the OEMs of Carlsbad and partnered with the clothing brand Extracurricular. Throughout it all, Todd has held fast to the customer-first ethos he and Jeff built the company on, and to the belief that "he who has the best story wins," which is why every Dormie cover is designed to be a conversation starter on the first tee.
